Organizations and Associations We Belong To

Directorate of History and Heritage (DHH) "The DHH is mandated to preserve and communicate Canada’s military history and foster pride in a Canadian military heritage." The Sask Mil Museum is one of only two Canadian Forces accredited museums in Saskatchewan.

The Organization of Military Museums of Canada "The OMMC is to preserve the military heritage of Canada by encouraging the establishment and operation of military museums, to educate museum staff through lectures, discussions, workshops, visits, publications and exhibits, and to cooperate with other public and private bodies devoted to the same or similar purposes."

Canadian Museums Association  "The Canadian Museums Association (CMA) is the national organization for the advancement of the Canadian museum sector, representing Canadian museum professionals both within Canada and internationally. The CMA works for the recognition, growth, and stability of the sector."

Museums Association of Saskatchewan "To serve museums in Saskatchewan and work for their advancement." 

Saskatchewan Council for Archives and Archivists (SCAA) "Through leadership, support, education and promotion, the SCAA fosters the development, cooperation and advancement of Saskatchewan's archives and archivists."

Canadian Heritage Information Network "The Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN) allows Canadian museums to connect with each other and their audiences through the use of digital technologies. As a centre of excellence, CHIN offers investment programs and proposes resources such as the Virtual Museum of Canada and Professional Exchange. These sites, loaded with images, highlight Canadian museum collections, news, collaborative projects and resources aimed at professionals and the public at large.

Saskatchewan History Online (SHO):  "formerly the Saskatchewan Multitype Digitization Initiative, is helping to increase the availability of free online access to Saskatchewan's cultural and historical record." Of particular interest is the former SMDI project "Saskatchewan War Experience"
